U.S. labor productivity rose at a higher-than-expected 7.3% rate in the second quarter of the year as the number of hours worked plunged by nearly half, according to a government report released Friday. The increase in productivity, which measures the amount of output per hour of work, was the largest since 2009, when the country was still reeling from the Great Recession.
